Ford Ile Perrot delivered the very first F-150 Lightning in the region and here are our impressions

July 06 2022

On June 22, our team at Ford Ile Perrot had the privilege of delivering the all-new, all-electric F-150 Lightning to Mr. Poirier. It was a real pleasure to deliver the very first electric truck in the region and to be able to take a look at this incredible car. Here are the elements that charmed us the most about the new Lightning.

1. Ford Smart Backup Power

No more problems when a power outage occurs with the Ford Smart Backup Power Supply. All you have to do is plug your Lightning into its 80 A Ford Pro charging station, then thanks to the 98 kWh battery, your truck will act as a backup source to power your home. The battery is powerful enough to power a home for a period of 3 to 10 days depending on the use of major appliances.

2. The extra space that "Frunk" gives us

First, what is a "Frunk"? It is a trunk located at the front of the vehicle and it is found more particularly on electric vehicles given the absence of a motor. The Lightning's "Frunk" has a volume of 14.1 cubic feet and has 400 liters of storage space, which is perfect for storing your luggage or camping gear when you go on an adventure. In addition, there are four electrical outlets and two USB chargers.

3. The cabin that turns into a real office

Are you often on the road for work or do you work on the road? With the F-150 Lightning you can work on your computer directly in your truck. Thanks to the gear lever that can be stored in the center console and the work table that lowers, you can install your laptop there, in order to work while being comfortable. If your laptop is out of battery, no problem. You can plug it into one of the two electrical outlets found in the passenger compartment.

4. Performance and power are there

We were impressed with the power of the F-150 Lightning, which comes equipped with not one, but two battery packs. The first block is found at the front under the hood and the second is located below the box at the rear, which means that there is a different motor for the front wheels and the rear wheels. The extended-range battery version gives us 580 horsepower and develops 775 lb-ft of torque. When it comes to acceleration, the Lightning is the fastest hitting 100 km/h in just 4 seconds.

5. Technologies that make our lives easier

It may be difficult for some drivers to back up and hook the trailer hitch to the vehicle. Ford is addressing this issue by offering Lightning drivers the all-new PRO advanced towing and hitch technology. Reverse your trailer worry-free by entering just a few steps into the system, then turn the knob on the center display to control the direction of the trailer. Your Lightning and trailer will back up without you even having to touch the steering wheel.

Our team was amazed by this first 100% electric truck from Ford. Whether you want to tow, haul, explore the trails or enjoy a family getaway, the F-150 Lightning will accompany you and surprise you with its state-of-the-art technologies.
