On this International Women’s Rights Day, we shine a spotlight on the journey of Roxanne Perreault, a technician at Ford Île-Perrot. Q: How long have you been working in the automotive field?
A: “I’ve been working in the automotive field for 3 years now.”
Q: What attracted you to this field?
A: “The mechanics themselves and the challenge of understanding how each part works. I’ve always loved solving technical problems, and the automotive sector offered an excellent way to do that.”
Q: Which position(s) have you held?
A: “I’m an automotive mechanic.”
Q: What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a woman in this industry?
A: “Gaining credibility in a male environment. You constantly have to prove your skills and push beyond stereotypes, but it’s motivating to show you can succeed!”
Q: What is your greatest pride in your automotive career?
A: “Proving that women have a rightful place here. Every technical problem I solve is a victory that makes me proud.”
Q: What advice would you give to a woman who wants to get into the automotive field?
A: “Believe in your abilities and don’t be influenced by stereotypes. Perseverance and passion make all the difference.”
Q: If you could drive any car, which one would you choose and why?
A: “A ’70s Chevelle SS for its aggressive look and power—truly a classic muscle car.”
